Kayla’s Visit to Walt Disney World – Pt. 2

IMG_3541 It is now April 1 and we are off to Animal Kingdom…The best thing to do is to park at Animal Kingdom Lodge and take the bus over to Animal Kingdom (AK)…so that is what we did…So far we can still get a stroller for free so that is what we did when we entered the gate…

IMG_3644The first place we headed was to the Safari ride to get Fast Passes…The park was being populated and we knew the Fast Passes would go quickly…We headed over to the Pangani Forest Trail and slowly walked the trail to see all the different animals like an Akopi, or the Lowland Gorillas, or the Meerkats…Kayla was very excited to see these different animals that she has never seen before…One of the mainIMG_3604 animals we didn’t see on this trail were the meerkats…Usually there is a “guardian” or “watcher” on top of their mounds but none was to be seen…After the trail, we headed to The Lion King Show…Kayla really enjoyed the show…At IMG_3718 first she was a bit scared cause of the noise and the bit of darkness…but after the show was over she said that she loved it…IMG_3775After the Lion King Show was over, it was time to head to the Kilimanjaro Safari… There were hippos, black rhinos, ostriches, flamingoes, jaquars (which you couldn’t see), crocodiles, monkeys, thomson gazelles and many others…the lion and lioness were sleeping and hiding…Kayla had a blast…IMG_3565 For lunch we ate at Pizzafari and then headed out of the park and headed back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge…

April 2 was a day to just sit back and relax…We’ve been going and going and now it was a day to rest…But we got cleaned up, ate breakfast and headed to Cast Connection to buy a stroller cause as of April 3, we wouldn’t be able to get a stroller for free because of the Easter holiday…Richard and I found a nice stroller for $20 that will be good for all the time that we have her visiting us…At Cast Connection, Kayla picked out a little Pegasus stuffed animal and a little handbag to put Pegasus in…With this being her first vacation, we got little things for her so that she can enjoy her vacation…and it helps that the stuff is on sale and we got an extra 20% off…Kayla also found a pink princess lanyard for her trading pins…After our shopping expedition, we headed to Ace Buffet for chinese lunch…Kayla really enjoyed her little bit of chinese food and oranges…This day was very good and slow for us and much needed…

April 3 and today will be a stay at home day…Kayla wanted to go out but I had clothes to wash and cleaning to do so that I can catch up on things before everything got out of hand…We are going to meet family for dinner later today…Around 5pm, Kayla’s Aunt Cindy called and said to meet them at Old Town which is in Kissimmee…It took us a while to find them but Kayla got to see some really cool cars for the car show that is there every weekend…Kayla didn’t want to get on any rides at the Fun Spot…She was scared…but after we left there then she decided that she wanted to get on a few rides…Too late!  It was getting late and everyone was hungry…We arrived at Old Town about 5:30pm and didn’t leave until a bit after 7pm…We headed to Boston Lobster Feast and had dinner there and was treated to this great feast…

Kayla’s Visit to Walt Disney World – Pt. 1

Our granddaughter, Kayla, arrived on March 28, 2009 at Orlando International Airport…It was her first flight to anywhere and she did really good…She left BWI – Baltimore with her Uncle Doug and landed in Atlanta with a 2 hour layover…Then they boarded the next plane to Orlando…She brought her one suitcase with her and we were there waiting for them to arrive…

IMG_2823 On March 29, the family members, who also arrived in the Disney area, and us headed towards Magic Kingdom, Kayla’s first trip in to Disney…We made sure that we went through the Walt Disney World gates for all the first timers on World Drive…

As we passed through the Magic Kingdom gates, we headed towardsIMG_2827 Wilderness Lodge, where we would take the boat over to Magic Kingdom…This morning it was raining and we waited until about noon to head to Magic Kingdom but as we got to Magic Kingdom (MK), it started to rain harder…People were buying Disney rain ponchos…Finally, after about an hour, the rain stopped pouring and it cleared up…We walked down Main Street towards the Cinderella’s Castle where a show was being prepared…IMG_2836 There was a cleaning crew trying to dry up the stage for the Mickey’s Dream performance but to no avail…The water from the rain could not be dried up enough for the dancers for it to be safe…

On March 30, we all went to Epcot…Richard, Kayla and I met the others in front of the park…The only things that we were doing today was Future World, which is at the front of the park…While waiting for the others to get a locker, Kayla saw Daisy Duck so we stood in line for her autograph/picture…The first thing done was getting a fast pass for Soarin’ which is up in The Land…While some went to get the fast passes, I took Kayla in to Character Landing so she could get Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy’s autographs…The line was a little long but worth the wait…Kayla, Richard and I didn’t do to many other rides cause Kayla would have been scared…but we did do The Living Seas, Finding Nemo ride…We went in to Pixie Hollow garden area and took lots of pictures of Tinkerbell and her fairy friends…Kayla did get some Goofy’s candy too…After being at Epcot for most of the day, Richard, Kayla and I called it a day around 7pm and headed home…Today was a good day with no rain…

On March 31 Kayla, Richard and I decided to head back to MK to finish up what we haven’t done yet…but we wanted to grab a good breakfast so the day before Richard made a reservation at Whispering Canyon Cafe in Wilderness Lodge…Kayla was very surprised when the waitress tossed the straws and napkins on to our table after she got our drinks…We ordered the all you can eat breakfast buffet and the waitress said that we could just let Kayla eat from the buffet…We finished our breakfast after a while and headed out to the boat to head to MK…Our day was filled with riding on Splash Mountain, the MK train that goes around the park & seeing the Country Bear Jamboree…Kayla kept saying “I don’t want to go on Splash Mountain” but she did pretty good but if anyone could have seen her eyes at the end of the ride when we went down 50 feet…Richard said her eyes were as big as golf balls and her mouth was wide open…but we were proud of her…She enjoyed the Jamboree and riding the train…We met the rest of the family at Angel’s which is an All U Can Eat seafood buffet (alaskan crab legs & lobster)…Then home we went to get ready for the following day…
