Our 10 Year Anniversary – Katy Mills Mall 7.20.11

wed (38)

July 20, 2011 – What a wonderful day to remember…12 years on this day, a man came to a house to pick up his date…Neither one of us have seen a picture of the other…I found the Love of My Life on the internet, AOL.com…After being single for 18 months, some people started telling me to go on to AOL.com and put up a profile to find a man…I didn’t go out at all cause for one, I didn’t have any friends to go out with so how was I going to meet anyone if I didn’t go out…So one night I decided to put up a profile of me and what I was looking for and what I wanted to do the rest of my life…No, there was not a picture of me for everyone to see…I felt that people had to read about me to see what I was like than by seeing if I was a “looker” or not…I got some replies, chatted with a few, got lead on by some and actually had a couple of dates…Then one night about midnight I decided to look “just one more time” through the profiles…I found one and started to read…It took me about 45 minutes to read all that this man had written…He really wanted the woman he was looking for to see what he was all about…I was so impressed that I sent him an email and said HI and that I was impressed with what he had written…I got a reply back and I emailed again…After a few times of this, he asked me for my number so he could call…We talked and then he asked me out…So on July 20, 1999, this man, the man of my dreams, knocked on the door and was let in…I wasn’t ready yet but when I did come down the steps and rounded the corner to see him, I was so in awe…Wow!  Goodlooking, I thought…Out the door we went and he took me to a restaurant called the Rainforest Cafe…What an experience and we talked and talked…Then we walked the Towsontown Mall and I think he walked my legs off…What a blast I was having…Then he took me home, we sat on the back porch swing and talked some more…When it was time for him to leave, he was one step down and I was just as tall as he was on the top step…The kiss was breathtaking…I knew this was the one…and of course, my eldest daughter liked him right from the start when they met on the same night…lol

So needless to say, in 2001 we got married at the Rainforest Cafe in Towsontown Center…We thought it was the most perfect place to be married…The place where our lives began…My mom married us, my daughters were in the wedding and all our friends and family came and bought their dinner in lieu of presents…I made us some wild outfits, we wore stuffed animals and created a “signing” pillow for our guests..The wedding cake was a big sheet cake with a waterfall and leaves and plastic rainforest animals…It was all so cool…

Now it is 10 years later and we are very happy and getting along just great especially being together 24/7 for 365 days…Yes, it helps to work and be apart but we live in a 40ft. fifth wheel rv with very little space to hide…No man’s cave here…lol

On July 20, 2011, we decided to take a drive to Katy, Tx to go to the Katy Mills Mall, a sister company to all the other Simon Malls around the country like Potomac Mills Mall & Arundel Mills Mall…We arrived at one of the entrances of the mall and lo & behold one would not guess what restaurant was staring us in the face…Yep, that’s right….Rainforest Cafe…So we just had to go in there for our special anniversary dinner…DSCN0564

We got our seats and explained to the waiter that we were here by chance and was celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary at the same kind of restaurant where we got married in…He was very impressed…We got our meal, some free mozzarella sticks (totally by accident) and a free dessert (offered by the manager)…As we waited for our food, I walked around the restaurant snapping pictures of everything that was interesting to me…The meal was excellent (I do miss the Jamaica Me crazy pork chops from 1999)…We were very stuffed after this meal…Needless to say, some of it went home…We walked the shop and then decided to walk the mall…What a very special way to spend our 10th wedding anniversary…I was so happy…Ladies, third time’s the charm…Trust me…I found my Prince Charming…and I love him with all my heart…always-loved_heart

I wonder if we will find a Rainforest Cafe for our 25th Wedding Anniversary….I hope so…Now, what will be done for our 15th anniversary…Where will we be for our 15th and 25th anniversaries?  I hope everyone who is happy has that special someone and has that special place..
